Welcome to Mission Wear!

Started in 2006 by Beth McWhirter, Mission Wear is a non-profit organization that provides reusable grocery bags made from donated fabric, denim, and burlap coffee bags by women who are in recovery.

Passion for People and Upcycle

We have a passion to provide a place for women who are in recovery and need the opportunity to begin building their confidence and sometimes for the first time, a job history. We hire them because they have a past. Mission Wear is a safe place for women to re-enter the work place.

Mission Wear creates upcycled products such as reusable shopping bags for those who want to take personal action to be more environmentally conscious.

Without getting in your face, we want to help increase awareness about the importance of individuals incorporating reusable products into their daily lives; everyone can make a difference!

We work with local organizations in Denver to hire women that have severe obstacles to employment: The Empowerment Program for Women, The Gathering Place, The Providence Network, Esther House, Treasure House, Denver’s Road Home, and Denver Works.

We are not exclusive when it comes to helping people get back into mainstream employment. We just require that they maintain sobriety and show up for work regularly.

We have made switching from paper and plastic to reusable easy for anyone who wants to make the change! Our reusable shopping bags are hand-machine-made of organic cotton, natural fibers, denim and canvas.

Since we’re a small non-profit, we can custom make any bags to fit retailer’s and individual’s needs for reusable/recycled products, and are open to creating new products tailored to the interests of our clients.
